About our Rural Accommodation in Lanzarote

Casa Claddagh is just over 100 years old, which makes it quite a historic building for Lanzarote, not surprising when you consider the volcanic activity on the Island, not to mention Pirates and other invading forces.

The house and accommodation was previously the local village bar and was a focus for life here in the rural community of Guime. The current kitchen was actually the bar area and in the garden was a gravel area for playing "bolas" the Canarian equivalent of petanques or boules.

When we purchased Casa Claddagh, it was completely rundown and we had to undertake a complete restoration of not just the buildings but also the gardens and utility areas.

We tried to restore the buildings in sympathy with their surroundings to maintain the rural charm of the area while also adding the creature comforts that are a neccessity in this day and age. We are proud that - judging by the comments in our guest book - we have succeeded in combining the old and the new to make a relaxing house for your holiday in Rural Lanzarote.

There is now a swimming pool just in front of the main terrace which is a really tranquil place to be, so much so that one of the local Yoga centres uses this area to hold Yoga sessions at various times.
